This tour offers you a mountain gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi forest Uganda and a volcano hiking adventure in Rwanda. You will have to see the gorillas first and then go over to hike Mt. Bisoke.
You will visit gorillas in Rushaga gorilla center found in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park not far from Kigali Rwanda, and that’s where you should arrival and departure from. In Rushaga sector there are 5 gorilla families habituated, but you can only visit one of them for 1 hour. As you search for gorillas, you also get to explore on foot the flora and fauna of Bwindi forest a UNESCO world heritage site including 220 butterflies, 100 ferns, 163 species of trees, 346 bird species including 23 which are endemic to the Albertine rift valley.
From Bwindi with gorilla trekking experience still on your mind, you will go hiking Mt. Bisoke which is located in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda. Mt. Bisoke is one of the 3 dormant volcanoes within the park, but also part of the Virunga chain of 8 volcanic mountains, that link the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and DR Cong.
At the summit of Mt. Bisoke at 3711 meters above sea level, it’s the view of the Virunga landscape is most stunning.

Day 1: Arrival.
Arrive through Kigali International airport, where you will meet and greet with one of our company representatives and thereafter transfer to your booked hotel or take a short city excursion depending on the time of your arrival. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Leave Kigali early morning after breakfast and transfer to Rushaga sector in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park with a view of the Virunga ranges much of the journey. Via Cyanika border, which is 50 km away from Bwindi, your visa is checked for entrance into Uganda.
Arrive in Rushaga sector and check in at the lodge, with a majestic view of Bwindi forest.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and transfer to Musanze Caves.
Breakfast is served early morning as you need to be at the Rushaga gorilla center by 7:00am for briefing on the gorilla rules and regulations. Coming on, you need to have packed snack and drinking water as you do not know how long it could take you to see the gorillas.
During briefing, you encouraged to observe the gorilla rules and hire a porter if you need one.
You will be allocated to one of the 5 gorilla families in Rushaga, and the trek begins after briefing. Searching for the gorillas is awesome as you maneuver through the jungle, you expect it might take 2 or 5 hours but, once you find, you will have 1 hour to observe and take pictures of the gorillas at ease.
Thereafter, hike back to gorilla center, to receive your tracking certificate and then to the lodge for lunch. Check out after finishing lunch and transfer, via Cyanika to Musanze district northern Rwanda.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Mt. Bisoke Hike.
This volcano has a crater lake on its summit which rises at 3711 meters above sea level. It’s a moderate hike and reaching at the top and returning back takes about 6-8 hours depending on the fitness of the hikers, plus the time you take as you stand there at the top, enjoy the view of the Virunga ranges. That also includes a stroll around Ngezi Crater Lake at the foothills of the volcano where the grauer’s swamp warbler can be spotted and more bird species as you go through different zones of vegetation including bamboo, tropical forests and alpine.
The hike will take you all day, so you need to pack enough drinking water, food and other essential gadgets like binoculars. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, leave Musanze and transfer to Kigali international airport with an optional sightseeing tour through Kigali city.
