4 Days Mount Karisimbi & Mount Bisoke

The Bisoke and Karisimbi Mountain hike displays the natural looks and wildlife of volcanoes NP in Rwanda. Besides towering volcanoes, the park is also a home for golden monkeys, mountain gorillas and a number of birds.

It is also home to 5 volcanic mountains namely; Karisimbi, Bisoke, Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura mountains. This journey will definitely fulfill your adventure and nature desires.

Day 2: From Kigali to Mount. Karisimbi.

Set off from Kigali to Ruhengeri region, which is located in the northern part. As soon as you arrive, head straight to the headquarters for a short briefing and prepare your backpacks, drinking water, camping gears and all other equipment you may need for this trip. Porters can be hired at an extra cost to assist you lift some of your belongings.

It only takes 6 to 8 hours to arrive at the first camping site next to the summit where you will enjoy the sights of Virunga volcanoes. Dinner and accommodation are also provided at the camping site.

Day 2: Descend from Mountain Karisimbi.

Enjoy bright sunrise as you head back to the mountain base immediately after a well spiced heavy breakfast. You will have to head back to your accommodation hub for lunch and choose to take a village walk in Kinigi or even drive to the twin lakes for canoeing and sight-seeing later in the evening.

Day 3: Hiking Mountain Bisoke.

Have breakfast and immediately show up for registration at the ranger post and head straight to the base contours of Mountain Bisoke which is among the Virunga volcanoes, neighboring other mountains like Karisimbi, Gahinga, Sabyinyo and Muhabura. Unless there is too much fog, a crater lake on top of mount. Bisoke can easily be seen from the summit.

The track passes via bamboo forest which is home for golden monkeys, giant lobelia and alpine meadows. A small meal is always provided at the summit, while hiking the beautiful Bisoke Crater Lake. There is also a great view of other volcanoes. Later in the day, you will hike down to the mountain base and drive to your accommodation hub for dinner and a sleepover.

Day 4: Back to Kigali and Departure

On your way back to Kigali, you will stopover at the many beautiful sites, with intertwined hills which will mark the whole journey.

After a delicious lunch meal, you may visit Kigali genocide memorial site which will give you an insight into what exactly took place during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.  Later in the evening, the driver will drop you at the hotel in Kigali or the airport to catch your departure flight.
