10 Days Best of Rwanda Safari

Talking of a safari in a country landmarked with breath-taking landscape and magnificent plantations, Rwanda should be one’s primary target. The safari comprises of visiting national parks like Volcanoes NP, Nyungwe NP and Akagera NP. All these places are home to magical biodiversity.

They are famous for gorilla trekking, game drives, gorgeous accommodation facilities, to mention but a few. Therefore this ten days safari is likely to stay in your memory for the next centuries once attended to.

Detailed tour.

Day 1: Arrival.

An easily identifiable company representative has a primary responsibility of offering you the best welcome by meeting you at the Airport as soon as you step out of the plane. These are our trusted people skilled in hospitality and professionalism. Identify him or her through their smartness and a placard inscribed on your name.

This person will brief you and then drive you to the lodge around the city for resting, dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Tour of Kigali city and drive to Volcanoes N/Park.

Having had a great breakfast at the lodge, you head for a journey to Volcanoes NP which starts with a trip around Kigali city (one of the cleanest cities in Africa). You feed your eyes with local markets where you can purchase some of the essential stuff that will be used on the tour. Forget not to pass by a memorable Genocide memorial site (a home of history).

Immediately after lunch, you head for a two to three hour drive to the mighty Volcanoes NP. Here you will pass by unending hills, flourishing vegetation, etc.

Day 3: Trekking Gorillas in PNV.

Breakfast starts at around 6:00am and then you go for briefing at the park headquarters that prepares you for the adventurous gorilla trekking experience. Trekking takes 1-6 hours and an extra one hour for you to take pictures and watch these giant apes as they dine, mate, relax, fight, etc. Remember that these are hard-to-find primates that are restricted to African continent only.

Having spent such moments with gorillas, you back to the lodge for lunch, dinner, and refresh as you wait for the next day’s event (golden monkey trekking).

NOTE: You have a choice of requesting an extra activity instead of leisure.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and Cultural immersion.

A new day, new adventure, new reunion, new fun and extraordinary experience. This begins after a lip-smacking breakfast and briefing at the lodge and park headquarters respectively. You then start golden monkey tracking activity (lasting for 1-5 hours) one of the best moments one can ever have in the world.

Golden monkeys are playful and charming creatures. You are given an extra hour to see them feed, mate and play. You then make a come-back to the lodge for lunch accompanied by exciting cultural experience at the Ibyiwacu cultural community full of stories, songs, dance and drama.

Day 5: Shift to Nyungwe Forest N/Park.

After a nice breakfast, check out of the lodge and then head to Nyungwe NP, home of human relatives; Chimpanzees, share 98% DNA with human beings. You engage in a smooth drive via green vegetation, scattered homesteads, etc. not forgetting a stopover for a delicious lunch.

It will be already evening by the time you arrive at the park meaning that you will be ready to be served with dinner before spending a night there.

Day six: canopy hiking and Trekking Chimpanzee

A yummy breakfast and briefing happen in the morning before starting a canopy walk. Nyungwe national park is a home to over 13 unique primate species although the most dominant are chimpanzees. Chimpanzee tracking takes 1-6 hours and an additional hour for you to spend with these apes taking pictures.

Exiting the jungle marks the beginning of lunch followed by a canopy walk. Here you get a chance of viewing beautiful landscapes and countless population of birds that play and make life on top of the trees. This activity lasts for 1-2 hours before a retreat to the lodge for dinner and refreshments in preparation for the next day.

Day 7: Whole day at L. Kivu.

This day starts with a cup of energy giving coffee accompanied by boat cruise, having fun and relaxation. This is the largest fresh-water lake in Rwanda with romantic beaches, beautiful lush vegetation and bird species. You bless your intestines with seafood of different types, take pictures, have dinner and spend a night on the shores of Lake Kivu.

Day 8: Transfer to Akagera NP.

The previous days’ relaxation is an introduction yet another day that starts with a delicious breakfast at the lodge and then followed by checking out for an exciting Akagera wildlife experience.

Akagera NP is the only savannah game park in Rwanda and shelters the big five mammals as well as big cats. Along the way, you get lunch whereas dinner will be at the lodge in the evening.

Day 9: Full day game drive in Akagera N/park.

A full day game drive starts immediately after breakfast and checking out of the lodge. The park has a wide range of plants, animals, birds, spectacular landscape, beautiful scenery, to mention but a few.

During the adventure, encountering any of these residents is not news; lions, leopards, elephants, African cape Buffaloes, Zebras, Rhinos, and several other antelope species. Before returning to the lodge for refreshments, dinner and an amazing sleep, you will first have bush breakfast and a picnic lunch in the wilderness.

Day 10: Departure via Kigali airport.

After a delicious breakfast, sign out of the lodge and then enjoy the drive from Akagera NP to Kigali city. This is a gorgeous moment as the breath-taking sceneries bless you with memories of what you went through for the past days.
